Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known by her stage name FKA twigs, is an English singer-songwriter who began her career as a backup dancer at 17 years old for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Plan B, Ed Sheeran and Jessie J. Since, she has made her musical debut with the extended plays EP1, EP2 and M3LL155X, plus her debut record LP1.
The release of LP1 in 2014 put FKA twigs on the music industry’s radar after her single, Two Weeks, went viral online thanks to its unique music video. The album received wide critical acclaim and was nominated for the Mercury Prize in the UK. The projects following LP1 included a short film called #throughglass, a promotional piece of Google Glass, which featured versions of her other popular songs Video Girl and Glass & Patron.
In August of 2015, she released her most recent EP M3LL155X (Melissa), featuring her last single for a number of years Good To Love. FKA twigs took a break until 2018, where was featured on A$AP Rocky‘s album Testing for the song Fukk Sleep. She returned in April of 2019 with the single Cellophane accompanied by a breathtaking music video. FKA twigs announced this would be the lead single for her sophomore album MAGDALENE, which was released on November 8th. She states the album reflects heavily on her relationship and break up with actor Robert Pattinson and the process of healing from it.
