REBEL’s second level room – NOIR – houses the best in current and up-and-coming electronic music. The room has hosted legendary DJs such as Green Velvet, Claude Vonstroke, John Digweed and Nora en Pure and will continue to host amazing talent over the months of February and March this year.
Kicking off the month of February is the return of a legend – Pete Tong is back on Saturday, February 1st! The British house music producer and DJ currently works for BBC Radio 1 and hosts the iconic Essential Mix and Essential Selection programmes. He owns his own record label – FFRR Records – and his own brand of club nights called “It’s All Gone Pete Tong”, which started at Pacha in Ibiza. The last time Pete Tong played NOIR, he blew the roof off the room and we cannot wait for round two.
The rest of the month of February is all about the future of house music – Saturday, February 8th sees the return of Dombresky for his Trust The Process Tour. Dombresky hails from France and broke out of the French house scene when he remixed A-Trak‘s “We All Fall Down”. From there, he connected with fellow French future house producer Tchami and they collaborated on the track “Freakin”. The relationship would continue with Dombresky releasing “Utopia” and “Wait” on Tchami’s record label Confession. His return is highly anticipated as his previous debut inside NOIR was a show to remember – Don’t miss out this time!
The following two weeks sees future house producer Noizu on Saturday, February 15th and G-House aficionado Dr. Fresch on Saturday, February 22nd. Noizu comes from Los Angeles and made his debut on the Skrillex and Chris Lake curated HOWSLA EP in 2017 with the track “Lasers”. This caught the eye of Tchami and fostered a few tracks released on Confession. As a champion for new talent, he always gives away his stems post-release to encourage young producers, which helped to create his label Techné Records in 2018. Noizu kicked off 2019 by joining Chris Lake’s label Black Book Records and continues to be a one-to-watch in house music. He crushed his set at Cabana Pool Bar this past summer, so you can bet his NOIR set will be even better.
Dr. Fresch’s claim to fame went down in 2013 when he won Insomniac’s Discovery Project Contest and released his debut self-titled EP via their record label. The EP was deemed as innovative as he blended hip-hop and rap sounds with electronic beats. In the summer of 2015, he launched his mix series The Prescription, which features a 30 minute Dr. Fresch mix followed by a 30 minute guest mix from up-and-coming DJs. He is most known for his insane mashups and high energy during his sets – You can guarantee NOIR will be no different when he takes over the decks.
Rounding out the month of February is returning DJ OFFAIAH. The British producer recovered from a helicopter crash in 2017 and returned full force in 2018 with tracks “Work It Out” and “Cheddar”. He has been supported heavily by Defected Records and is frequently featured on Spotify’s Housewerk playlist. We can’t wait to hear “Push Pull” and “Solider” on February 29th.
Springs draws near in March with MK on March 7th, Mercer on March 14th and Illyus & Barrientos on the 21st. This will be MK’s third time on the decks and if it’s anything like his last appearance, it’s going to be wild. French house producer Mercer – who is part of the Pardon My French squad comprising of DJ Snake, Tchami and Malaa – mixes past and present in his sets with old school and future house features. Illyus & Barrientos have been supported by Mark Knight‘s Toolroom Records, as well as Defected Records, and have released heaters such as “So Serious”, “The One” and “Losing Control”.
