Nicholas Mercier, better known as Mercer, is a French producer and DJ specializing in the French and future house genres. He began producing in 2010 and became known to the electronic music scene thanks to the track “Welcome to the Jungle” with Alvaro and Lil Jon released on Hardwell‘s Revealed label. Mercer, then, joined Spinnin’ Records, where he released the majority of his early music, as well as Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak label. Mercer is a part of the Pardon My French collective featuring other members DJ Snake, Tchami and Malaa.
Since the revival of disco house in 2018, he has seen his productions enter the electronic music charts. Most notably, he collaborated with DJ Snake on the club hit “Let’s Get Ill”, which has nearly 30 million streams and counting. In the same year, he saw the success of his track “Satisfy” due to the single’s heavy radio and TV play for months giving rise to to the Satisfy Tour where a new audience got to know his style.
Mercer has released an EP titled Neo Disco and features another popular track “Monte Carlo”. Via DJ’s Snake’s label Premiere Classe, where also works as an artistic director, he released another hit “Boss”. Recently, Mercer has launched a new podcast series called Nouvelle Vague dedicated to old school disco sounding artists and tracks, as well today’s house music. The show is broadcasted monthly on Sirius XM in North America and Fun Radio or Radio FG in France to promote the trend of “Old school is the new school”.
In the summer of 2019, Mercer was featured in Pardon My French’s first release “Made in France” via DJ Snake’s Carte Blanche LP, which ranked number one on the day of its release and a fan favourite in DJ sets everywhere.
